5kg Dog

AMOUNT TO FEED

The amount to feed any pet is based on weight, age, and activity level. More active dogs will require 3% of their body weight, whereas others may only require 2%. If your dog is a growing puppy, please contact us as their requirements will differ.

A 5kg dog requires approximately 100g - 150g per day, or, 700g - 1050g over a week.

AVERAGE COST

Average costs are dependent on the proteins you choose to feed your dog - this is based on products for a dog with no health issues (and not requiring specific proteins). If your pet has any health concerns, please get in touch with us first as our suggested products may not be suitable.

The average cost for a 5kg dog is $2 - $3 per day, or, $14 - $21 a week.

THINGS TO KNOW

  • Feed a variety of meat, bone, organs and green tripe.
  • Aim to feed bones at least twice a week and always feed green tripe with the bone (the amount of green tripe should be about a third of the bone's size).
  • Appropriate bone size is really important - see our Bone Feeding Guide for more information.
  • Feeding variety is important. Don't be afraid to mix things up. We recommend feeding at least 3 different prey sources over a weekly period.
  • Wild proteins are great to add as they are nutrient dense, sustainable, and their organs are included in most of our minces and bones.
  • Only feed a small amount of organs as they are rich and nutrient-dense.
  • Dogs can have fish up to 3 times a week. Pilchards, salmon and tinned sardines (in spring water) are great options.
  • If frozen green tripe is a bit too much for your little one, try giving them freeze dried green tripe instead.
